Registration Notes
Cedar Valley Cyclists (CVC) has run a highly regarded charter service for more than 30 years. To join the Cedar Valley Cyclists charter, first select the Cedar Valley Cyclists group on your RAGBRAI® Registration. Membership in Cedar Valley Cyclists is a requirement of our Charter program. If you are not already a member, please complete the membership application here Become a Member – Cedar Valley Cyclists.
Emergency Contacts: In the event you have a serious illness/injury while on RAGBRAI®, we will try to reach your Emergency Contact. Please list a person with whom you are not riding but whom we would be likely to reach (family member or close friend at home).
Team Effort: Cedar Valley Cyclists uses an experienced and committed group of full and part-time Volunteers to support our cyclists. But it sometimes takes a larger group effort to make our Charter successful. Additional help is appreciated to set up canopies, showers, and/or the charging station, so if you feel the urge, we welcome your assistance. If you just want to sit in the shade and have a cold beverage, we get it – we’ve all been there and we know what it feels like to finally get to chill. Contact any Crew member or the Campground host if you have any questions.
Campsites: As an official RAGBRAI® Charter, CVC has the opportunity to scout and reserve a designated campsite in each overnight town. We advise the overnight towns of our needs and strive to secure an area with shade, grass, and easy access to food vendors, shuttle bus routes and entertainment. We have our own water supply for showers and electricity for charging, so our needs are few. Ultimately though, we are at the mercy of the overnight towns and their assignment of a campsite for us.
Directions to CVC campsite: CVC provides the location and GPS coordinates to our campsites electronically via text message as well as printed on a laminated pocket-size card. Effective 2025, RAGBRAI® no longer allows the posting of directional signs in overnight towns, so we strongly recommend using the Ride with GPS files provided by RAGBRAI®, in combination with these aids.
Shade Canopies: CVC has three 10’X20’ pop-up canopies, and about 50 chairs. Campgrounds may have little or no shade, so the canopies provide a nice respite from the relentless July sun!
Beverages: CVC provides coolers with bottled water, and other cold beverages in camp. We don’t have a license to sell, so contribution for this amenity is on the honor system. Suggested contribution amounts will be posted along with a QR code for easy payment. We will also have a cash box available. We try to honor requests for specific beverages, but choice may be limited by availability. Please note that personal coolers are not allowed due to space limitations.
Baggage: There is a limit of 3 bags/totes per person, with a weight limit of 40#/bag. Cyclists load their own bags (easier for you to find them), so pack only what you need. Consider using 3 smaller bags vs 1 very heavy bag for ease of loading. See the packing tips below.
Showers: CVC has 4 portable shower stalls in camp so you will rarely have to wait in line for a shower. We provide shower bags, a water source and a portable water heater. You may use the RAGBRAI® pay showers if you choose – these are typically $8-10 and may have long lines and/or run out of hot water.
Restrooms: CVC rents 4 porta-pots and 2 hand-wash stations that are designated for CVC use only.
Miscellaneous Amenities: CVC has 5 floor pumps, electric air pumps for air mattresses, and a charging station for cell phones and other electronics. Be sure to bring your own charging cords – labeling your cords and charging blocks helps to prevent lost items.
Charter Logistics: CVC accepts up to 150 people for camping with our Charter (with bus capacity limited to 112). Our charter is supported by two 26’ rental trucks, as well as 2-3 pickup trucks with trailers.

Deadlines
See RAGBRAI® registration deadlines here. CVC Charter Registration remains open until we reach capacity.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
Cancellation received by 11:59pm on April 30 will incur a cancellation fee of $45. This is not meant to be punitive – by this date, we have contractual financial obligations that must be met even if you cancel. There is no refund for cancellation May 1 or later. We encourage you to find someone to “purchase” your reservation on the Charter. If you do, you will receive a refund minus the $45 cancellation fee once we have received that person’s Charter registration and payment.
Travel Insurance
If you cannot participate in some or all of the event, and would like a refund, you MUST purchase an individual travel insurance plan at the time of registration, which will reimburse you according to the coverage terms of the plan. Plans can be purchased online, and many are very reasonably priced.
